Free Learn to knit group Mondays (term time) 7-9pm, Senior Citizens’ Hall, Hindrey Road, Hackney, London E5 8HQ

Learn how to:

  • Read patterns
  • Choose yarns and needles
  • Cast on and off
  • Knit and purl
  • Decrease and increase
  • Deal with dropped stitches and tension problems
  • Sew up finish knitted items
  • Knit a variety of different stitches and patterns

Beginners: Bring along a pair of 4mm needles and 4 x 50g or x 2 100g balls of double knitting (DK) wool. We will be starting with a simple baby cardigan (the pattern will be given at the first meeting). The post office and Mermaid Fabrics on the Narrow Way in Mare St have some reasonably priced wool and needles. Existing knitters: Bring your present knitting project. Perhaps it’s been a while and you want to refresh your memory, or you just like the idea of meeting other knitters in the area.

Free Relaxation Class

Free classes to learn about massage and relaxation for a healthy life. A typical session includes practical relaxation and self massage techniques, simple stretching and pair-work. Places are limited so will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
